The New England Patriots matched their longest winning run from the Tom Brady era as they beat AFC East opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in the NFL

First-year standout TreVeyon Henderson shone brightly with three TDs as the New England squad notched an eighth consecutive victory for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Brady's last year with the franchise in the 2019 season

Signal-caller Drake Maye passed for 281 passing yards and a TD, completing 25 passes from 34 throws

Victory increases the New England's lead at the top of the division as they advanced to a 9-2 record, with the Jets at the foot after slipping to a 2-8 mark

The Jets had scored first at Gillette Stadium with QB Justin Fields running in a five-yard touchdown to conclude the Jets' initial series

But the Patriots responded in the second period as Henderson scored two seven-yard TDs before the running back hauled in a throw from Drake Maye at the back of the end zone midway through the third quarter to extend the lead to 21 to 7

"It was a crucial moment for him stepping up, and it's been excellent for him to keep earning playing time," the quarterback commented on Henderson. "He desires to be great."

Justin Fields threw to Metchie toward the end of the third period to reduce the lead for the visitors but Andy Borregales kicked a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter as the Patriots closed out the victory
