The athlete achieved her fastest time of 1:54.61 the previous season in the British capital.

The Olympic champion concluded her two-lap season with a triumph at the women-only Athlos meet in NYC on Friday night.

{The current Olympic champion, who secured third place at the global championships last month, dominated an outstanding win in 1:56.53 in what was just her sixth appearance in a season affected by a muscle issue.

Fellow Briton and world silver medallist Georgia Hunter Bell took the runner-up spot once more in one minute 58.33 seconds, while the athlete from St Vincent Shafiqua M. (one minute 58.57) secured third place.

"I haven't competed much this season so it was probably easier for me to go out there and be motivated to perform," said Hodgkinson.

"The atmosphere out there is incredible so it was really, really fun."

The female-exclusive event packed Icahn Stadium in its second year, introducing a festive vibe to conventional athletics, with musical performances and Tiffany & Co. crowns replacing standard medals.

The tennis legend with 23 major titles Serena W., who is wed to the founder of Athlos Alexis O., was on hand to present the victors with their crowns.

Last year's winners received sixty thousand dollars (£44,603) - among the biggest cash prizes in athletics.

The competition also drew several top athletes, as the Kenyan three-time Olympic gold medallist and world record holder Faith K. triumphed in the mile race, crossing the finish line in four hours 17.78 minutes.

The US Brittany B., the 200m bronze winner from last year's Paris Olympics, won the 100m and 200m double.
