Native Groups Gather for Civil Society Forum

Representatives of Amazonian native populations assembled at local educational institution for the launch of a complementary Civil Forum.

Images depicted attendees dancing, chanting and socializing at the event, on the campus of the educational institution, just kilometers from the summit venue where the UN climate summit is occurring.

"In this space we are listened to, here our voices are taken seriously," commented one participant at the gathering.

Symbolic Venue for Climate Conference

This current climate conference signifies the first assembly being conducted in the Amazon rainforest, a meaningful selection by the Brazilian government, in measure to guarantee that Indigenous peoples have a greater representation.

Frustrations and Actions
