Chopper Spins Uncontrollably into Palm Trees at Frequented Southern California Beach

An aircraft hovering above a crowded southern California shoreline abruptly commenced twirling wildly, eventually dropping height and crashing into a line of palm groves as spectators looked on.

Recordings posted online show the helicopter beginning to twirl near the shoreline then falling towards the edge of the beach, where it gets stuck amidst palms and a set of stairs adjacent to the coastal road.

Rescue Operation Update

Emergency responders said five persons were taken to hospital including two individuals who were in the chopper and were “rescued from the debris” after the crash on Saturday.

Three people on the street were injured. Details on their condition were not immediately available.

What led to the incident was still under investigation.
